The Karnataka post graduate common entrance test or K PGCET is conducted for full-time and part – time master’s degree. The K PGCET is managed by the Karnataka Examination Authority. The candidates who have passed for recognized bachelor’s degree for three years or equivalent are eligible to apply. There are certain factors which the candidates should be aware of such as important dates, eligibility criteria, application procedure, and many other factors.  Let us get to know about the K PGCET thoroughly.

What is PGCET Exam :-

Conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority, Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) is a state level entrance exam. The exam is a gateway for admissions to MBA programs. Karnataka PGCET MBA is conducted in paper-pencil mode and is scheduled for 2 hours.

PGCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria:-

The eligibility criteria for PGCET Full-time MBA 2017 is as follows:

  • The candidate must have secured a recognized bachelor’s degree (3 years minimum duration) or should have passed an equivalent examination
  • During all the years of Degree Examination, the candidate must have attained an aggregate of 50% marks or more in all the subjects
  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and Category-I of Karnataka should have attained 45% marks in the qualifying examination

 The eligibility criteria for PGCET part-time MBA 2017 is as follows:

  • The candidate should hold a recognised Bachelor’s Degree. The duration of the program should be 3 years/ candidate should have appeared for an equivalent examination
  • The candidate should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks or more (taking into consideration all the subjects) in all the years of the Degree examination – this percentage is 45% in case of SC, ST and Category-I for Karnataka candidates
  • Apart from obtaining the degree, the candidate should hold work experience of not less than 3 years as on July 31, 2017

 The eligibility criteria for PGCET MBA 2017 Government Seats for Karnataka State candidates is as follows:

  • The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in Karnataka. The total number of academic years should be 7, starting from standard 1 to Qualifying Examination as on July 1 (the year in which the Entrance Test is held). Also, the candidate should have passed either SSLC / standard 10th or 2nd PUC / standard 12th examination – the institute must be Government recognized and should be located in Karnataka.

PGCET Exam application Process:-

To fill in the application form for PGCET, a candidate needs to follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Visit the official website, and select ‘PGCET Online Application’
  • Next, click on ‘New User? Click Here to Register’. Enter all the requisite information in the candidate registration form and enter submit
  • Once this is done, the candidate will receive an Application number and User-ID – the same will be sent to the candidate’s respective registered mobile phone number and email-id. Also, it can be viewed on the screen itself
  • The candidate will then be redirected to the Login page, where he/she needs to fill in User ID and Password and click on Login
  • Once the login is done successfully, the candidate needs to fill in ‘Student information’ and click on save
  • Once all the details have been saved, the candidate needs to upload a scanned image of his/her photograph (not more than 1 MB size), signature, left hand thumb impression and parent signature. Save and click on next
  • Then, take a printout of the Challan copy which is in triplicate. The fee for candidates of Karnataka origin General and OBC category is Rs 650, and Rs 500 for SC / ST Category-1.
  • The fee needs to be paid in any of the branch of specified banks. One copy of the Challan will be retained by the bank, and the remaining two copies will be handed over to the candidate.
  • Next, the candidate needs to download the filled in application form copy and obtain the Principal seal and signature from their respective Final Year Diploma college . 

PGCET Exam Reservation Details :-

According to Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation, 70% of the available seats in every field of study in any regional University or educational institution located in the local area are reserved in favor of the local persons, in respect of such University or education institution. The Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation of Seats is given below: -

  • 8% of the available seats in every course of study provided in a state-wise University or a state wide educational institution are allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region under Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation Policy
  • The interse merit determined under Rule - 6 remains the same for the purpose of Karnataka PGCET 2017 Eligibility and benefit of Karnataka PGCET Reservation
  • PGCET 2017 Reservation for Ex-Defense Special Category
  • PGCET 2017 Reservation for Physically Disabled Special category
  • The PWD applicants have 3% seats reserved under the Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation policy
  • PGCET 2017Reservation for Karnataka Candidates
  • Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation is made in favor of candidates who belong to the scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST) and other backward class (OBC) of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in accordance with Government Order No. SWL 251 BCA 94 dated 31st January, 1995. The Karnataka PGCET 2017 Reservation for Karnataka Candidates is given below:
  • It is mandatory for a candidate to produce a ‘Caste Certificate or Caste Income Certificate’ that is issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar in accordance with the Government Order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2002 dated March 30, 2002, as amended from time to time  
  • The SC, ST and Category-1 candidates are exempted from payment of tuition fees, if their annual income is less than INR 2.5 lakhs
  • Relevant government orders must be read by a candidate for details
  • The candidates belonging to other backward class have to pay the fees to CET
  • Such candidates can apply for re-imbursement from the Backward Class Department after admission to the concerned colleges
  • Relevant government orders must be read by such applicant for details
  • Provided that candidates belonging to SC, ST and Category - I have to produce an Income certificate that is issued by Jurisdictional Tahsildar in the prescribed format
  • The income certificate is produced for the purpose of processing eligibility of candidates to claim Government of India scholarship
